Is 78 too cool for very young Dicrossus filamentosus; they are around 3/4 of an inch. I know some fishes breed during warmer times but i can't find a stable # for Dicrossus filamentosus. Some seem to suggest they are blue rams oriented wanting 82 others are even higher with discus around 84 and...
Just an fyi here - and what you say might be relevant but a lot of tetra that are tank raise will not do well compare to wc. What i mean by not well is they will mostly die off over the first 60 days of ownership so then i replace them with wc varities from the same store and those almost never...
I'm sorry i just looked up tds using the location in your signature and it seems different area of the city has hardwater water 400+ ec vs the 120 ec you have.
I'm pretty sure that i read an article that indicated that softwater fishes longevity were impacted by mineral build up in organs in...
Curious - i couldn't find what distinguish the two species can you provide input. I did look at tom's page and even a couple of cf species share both names.
I'm really confused since i've grown most vals (there are different species) in blackwater without too much issue. This is another aquarium with the common variety:
The ec (guessing) is around 40 and the ph is below 6 - it is on the cooler side of my dwarf cichild aquariums at 76:
Hum - one...
The val should be fine though the specific species might matter; sag ii've never tried and bulb plants lotus should be ok as long as you give it root tabs and provide it ample light.
I'm not a fan of most lillies as i find them rather pest oriented without constant desire to spread.
I should...
You can grow plenty of plants as shown in the above picture with pure ro water. The picture aquariums have no additives beyond a few root tabs; inert substrate and use straight ro water.
Some plants i find esp easy to grow include the hybrid big bear echinodorus; amazon echinodorus; nana val...
Weird - the only vals i had problems with was the curly one but it does grow just the tops get a bit ragged - never tried the thick american type in blackwater and nanna grows too well as shown here:
I will have the following available (unless diaster strike) in late sept or early oct:
2 or 3 groups of n. teugelsi (6 to 8 ~ 1/2 inch unsexed)
1 group of e. lucanusi
1 group of kribs (picture of parents attached)
1 pair of a. nijjensi.
When i ship is strictly based on temperatures. I recommend...
very different in looks and behavior. Mine tend to be a bit more active then ember but not super active - they are also slimmer - more red then orange and have black spot near the tail. My understanding is ruby are more sensitive to water hardness - since i've always kept mine in near...
The ones above don't have a lot of blue - and i was doing water changes on the basement aquariums today and i noticed the rubies down there have a lot more blue on their fin - this is a weak example but they are rater disobedient when i ask them to pose for pictures:
Hum. Mrs google suggest...
A window into my 95 (48x24x18 in ineches l,w,h):
Someone told me that ruby tetra would hide all the time but i can always find 15 or 20 of them in there so not sure why others think they hide.
couple of buces grown emersed:
There are fishes on the other side of the bank; sadly one even jumped up to see the flowers but forgot to jump back down.
