A permeate pump is only suggested if your water pressure is less than 60 psi. As pressure to the RO membrane goes down, the ratio of waster:ro water goes up. A permeate pump does not really reduce the amount of waste water... it brings the level of waste down to the 3-4:1 ratio it should be...
Oops.... I made a mistake in my earlier statement. C. kingsleyae is the type species of the genus, so there is a change that the C. guentheri/regani/cavaliensis may some day be separated into a different genus... not the other way around.
Hi Lonny,
Adult C. guentheri grow larger than C. kingsleyae. The big difference is that the guentheri will usually mature at a smaller size and are not as aggressive (though I have had some very mean Gunther's before). C. guentheri, C. regani and C. cavaliensis are probably the only 'true'...

In my opinion, ambient room light is adequate, so long as there is enough light for the fish to forage and see each other. If you are using live plants in the tank, let their requirements be the deciding factor.
If you are willing to collect small distochodontines, the whole Neolebias genus is of interest to me. Nanocharax also. Small Barbus species would be nice to see as well. I am not sure is there are any B. jae types in that area, but as we learned in Gabon, just because the fish are not listed...
