    New in from Peru...

Red dots or not, one of the forms has much brighter yellow finnage than the other and is an overall bluer, lighter colored fish. That they are both kelleri is not in debate, but they not from the same location.

Bad picture.... I will try to get a better one. The two I received are definitely different, and the exporter was with Tom when they were collected.

    New in from Peru...

I am working on the price list, but here are the results from the photo session today. Photo tanks are no substitute for taking pics of fish when they are established in a tank, but these will have to do. Yes... there are contaminants, but it will take a while to work them out. Nothing much...

    Genetic Diversity?

It is best to avoid breeding siblings from the start, if the goal is to prevent genetic erosion. It is a real problem with dwarf cichlids, and deformities often show up after only a few generations if inbreeding. Another problem is that outcrossing a highly inbred line may not solve the...

Keeping large numbers of apistos to work with

In my opinion.... crowd them and do not give them structures that are easy to defend. Ten male apistos in a bare ten gallon tank will probably not hurt each other.

Hello...I'm Vadis from north central West Virginia getting back into the hobby after a 10-year break

Welcome Vadis.... Lighting choice depends upon your need. The new technology is LED, but there is still a lot of work to be dome to get the spectrum range that is readily available in florescent tubes. For the money, I think that T5 lighting is still the way to go for freshwater tanks.
