I saw these on Below Waters list and was wondering if anyone knows what the "triangle" means? I have what is suppose to be H. sp. Guinea 2 (distinct gold/green jewel) and I don't see any triangle on them...

Mark did not ask me to post this, but I though everyone here would be interested in the Aquarium Glaser list he has on his website right now. It is very impressive and has lot of interesting cichlids. I am going to buy as much as I can and I hope everyone else gets something so we have enough...
I ship 1 cm juvies all the time with no problems and lots of satisfied customers. Check out my aquabid feedback (freshwaterfishfan). So, no 1/2 isn't too small. Smaller fish ship better than larger ones, anyways.
Steve
Young juvies (about 1.5 cm) from nice wild caught parents. Same fish that I've been selling on Aquabid.
6 for $40.
Will ship (my zip is 66209). Live arrival guarante on overnight only.
PM if interested.
Nice pics
Zach,
Nice pics. What camera/flash/etc do you use?
In the first photo, the fish behind the D. mac male, is that a D. sp. Tapejos? It seems to have the "dash" like markings.

Though I have never met him (I would like to) but after reading those posts, he certainly seems like a passionate fella and I give him credit for that. Best to him.
This thread made me think about how very frequently the smallest fish can be the most aggressive. I have a some rather small Neolamp splendens that are beating the crap out of Tilapia gutterosa that are 3 times there size. And I have a young pair of Hemichromis cf. guttatus that are dominating...
H. elongatus
Out of curiosity, how many fish did you start out with to get a pair?
I gave H. fasciatus (group of 6) a try and they were some of the nastiest fish I've ever seen and I had to give them away because they would beat on each other and every other fish relentlessly. They got decent...
I will assume then that D. filamentosa's range does not include the Tapajos river? I'll let you know what I got. I'll be thrilled with sp. Tapajos but will be very happy with maculatus. I have one breeding pair (and 6 juvies from them) but I'd like to get more.
Toyin gets them ever once and a while. I got some from him a couple of years ago sold as Ctenochromis polli. Turned out to be T. demussi but they were nasty fish. I did get them to breed. Sent some fry out to a guy in LA, don't know if he still has them.
Steve
This is for those fish and geography experts: Is Dicrossus filamentosa found in the Tapajos river? It is my understanding it is not. How about D. maculatus? I thought it was? I ask because I ordered some Dicrossus sp. Tapajos that the seller is certain was collected in the Tapajos but...
What about D. filamentosus
I think a group of Dicrossus filamentosus would be very interesting to see is such a large tank. They would add a nice contrast to the Apistos. And I agree with others, fewer sp but more of them would be more interesting.

Hey, I recently made a mistake on Aquabid and forgot to click the "Ship to the USA only" button. So a guy from Norway wins the auction and wants me to ship him the fish. I'm not opposed to it, but can I legally ship fish to Norway from the USA via USPS without some kind of license, etc?
You...
Surprisinlgy they seem to be pretty cheap(and plentiful) when they are on the lists. I've had two groups in the past. I have, unfortunately, not have much luck. They require warm, oxygen rich water (at least that is what I have read). That can be tricky. I had a nice tank going at 82 degrees...
Anyone here spawned Biotodoma waverni? I have a nice group of 8-10 in a 55 G with some Dicrossus and Apisto (who spawn like crazy) but I can't get the waverni to do anything but eat. Do they need a big pH drop or temp change? i keep the water about 78-80 and acidic (pH 5.5-6.0) and soft...
