They were bought as juveniles of D.maculatus but they turned out to be 100% D.gladicauda.
I posted a link to a tank that looks very similar to mine,on both sides there are 2-3 halves of coconut, and roots are bigger.
All credits for this tank to Wojciech Paul(AquaNL)
I am very grateful for all your help.
I was busy recently and looking for dwarfs wasn't a priority, but I found an interesting offer.
I can buy 1+3 D.gladicauda, however I am afraid that it will be too much to my tank.
My tank is designed similar to this one, on both sides there are 2-3 halves...
In Poland D.maculatus isn't that expensive, and price difference isn't big either(they cost 4$ for maculatus,5$ for filamentosus, juveniles, or about 10$ adult).
For example, if I buy adults, should I get a group too, or it's only a rule for buying juveniles?
My local shop raises them from fry(both maculatus and filamentosus) so I guess size wouldn't be a problem.
But if you don't recommend keeping them in that tank i will probably get D.filamentosus instead.
How many of them should I get in your opinion?
Is that tank enough to keep two males(2+2/2+4)?
It's heavily planted(about 70% of the tank or even a little bit more) , with plenty coconut shells and wood, so I think it won't be a problem.
That's quite interesting, how big are they?
Hi,
I searched like a half of the internet, but I couldn't find, how many females I can keep in my 17g tank(60x30cm base(around 23x12")).
I'm guessing that 1 male and 3 females will be too much, 1+2 will be ok?
Thanks for your help.
Hi,
I have 17g tank - 60x30x36. The layout is mostly centered - roots and leafs takes about 50-60% of the tank in the middle, the rest is free floating space.
Will it be ok for two males, or should I buy just one?
Thanks for help.
I'm a little bit suprised,is it a really difference whether it is back or front?
I have always thought that they would sift the sand most likely in the back of the tank.
About the cories, I haven't, because I always keep them on sand.
Do you mean, that fishes can hurt themselves by swimming near the substrate, or by trying to sift gravel?
My friend had a tank on this gravel with a few otto's, he said that he were especially looking on them because they were "sitting" on the substrate often, but they were fine.
I think I can...
Thanks for help.
I'm going to change because I want to try something new, unfortunatelly I am not and I won't be able to set up another tank only for apistogrammas.
Getting back to the sand subject, I guess that non-apistogramma dwarf cichlids (ex. Dicrossus sp.)
has sand sifting in their...
Hello,
I have a pair of A.Abacaxis, and I am changing the biotope to planted tank, will it be good for them if I moved them there(the substrate will be fine gravel) or should I sell them?
I read somewhere that dwarf cichlids sifts sands through their gills to keep healty, is that true?
Gravel...
I know that i will loose some shrimps but i dont mind it.I have an another tank where i keep crystal reds.

Hi
I'm looking for new apisto setup for my 63l(13gal,60x30x36) tank.
I have an experience with apisto(cacatuoides, panduro, agassizi, borelli) , and high grade shrimps (Crystal Red Mosura SS,SSS).
Now i'm looking for something more difficult.
Now in my tank i have:
13(4+9) Pseudomugil...
Hi.
I have an aquarium 63L with:
N.Beckfordi (about 17)
1+1 M.Ramirezi
I have an opportunity to get 1+1/1+2 A.Macmasteri-Viejita "Gold" for free.
Is this ok if i will change M.Ramirezi to A.Macmasteri?
@Sorry for mistakes ,but I'm Polish.
