That is most likely Pyrrhulina spilota. It is often found in black water so if you plan to breed them prepare your water for a pH between 5 and 6. There is another spotted Pyrrhulina in the upper Rio Tigre but shows a few more spots than the ones in your picture.

Great report and great catch Hudson. Now, from Maryland, USA, which bus should I take to get to the same spot where you collected A. cf. salpinction?
Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

You could combine the 21st Century Apistos with the Art of Apisto IDs and female color patterns as species identification all in one talk. A lot of work for you Mike but it has substance and pretty pictures at the same time.
I would love to hear the Paleogeography as a way to predict where...
This was done last year for the ACA convention. Money was raised through the forum via donations from regular members and incentives thanks to gift certificates donated by some vendors. As to the speaker, I don't remember how it was chosen but I do have someone in mind that is very "Wise"...
Thanks for a great photographic tour Tom. And I see Mark has gotten that trasmitable disease that is going to the jungle, once you visit Amazonia you can't stop going back.
Take care and be safe,
Julio
Let's make an effort to call this species A. cf. "Kelleri" since the Jutai locality is not true. The species is definitely a delayed mouthbrooder like A. barlowi. So far I have had two spawns, both not very productive with around 15 fry each time despite having a decent egg plaque.

I agree with Mike. It is definitely a Pyrrhulina sp but will need better pics to narrow it down as to which species it might be. Thanks for sharing your collecting experiences and photos.
