    A. cf. Ortega or just A. ortegai?

better angle of the female's peduncle. the store is attempting to get them to spawn, ~69TDS no luck, but no luck (there's another male in the tank which isn't making it particularly easy for them haha)

    A. cf. Ortega or just A. ortegai?

At the LDS, listed as A. [cf] ortegai "pebas", but I wanted to get some more opinions.

    Selling RARE APISTOGRAMMAS FOR SALE!

There are some clips of some of the fishes, but we'd certainly all appreciate images of each -- especially since many are rarely imported. I was under the impression that "Shally" and "Rocafuerte" are the same with just some coloration difference, so it'd be nice to have a visual. I can't even...

Need pics&videos for next YouTube series

I'm (re)making a YouTube series on the upkeep and breeding of Dwarf cichlids and I need some help with my supply of visual content. a little Backstory: I'm making a new edition of my How to Breed Apistogramma and other Dwarf Cichlids, a series of videos on the upkeep and spawning of Dwarf...

    125g Blue Ram Tank

Looks good! I'm right there with you on this, I've always wanted to see how our dwarf cichlids act in a huge tank with a large population (I basically want a tiny stream running through my house at this point:D). I tried this in a 75 with WC A. Bitaeniata, eventually it came down to one pair...

    Snail Eaters for Apisto Tank

I know we've all dealt with it, that random invasion of tiny snails who's only purpose is to mess up your perfect tank. I've been battling pond snails in my most recent tank, a 75 gallon (48x18x21 in) S.A. biotope-ish tank for my A. bitaeniata & P. scalare. I was wondering, are there are any...

How to mimic deep leaf litter?

I had this very question a little while ago when buying some A. Bitaeniata from Ted Judy. So I went and bught ~250+ Indian almod leaves. Turned out pretty well [excluding pesky snails.....this is why we can't have nice things...] Day one (waiting for leaves to fall) couple weeks into it...

    Mixing species

I'm not to sure a 55 is large enough IME. I can barely house a trio of A. Bitaeniata [Rio Tigre] in a 75 with several inches of leaf litter.

    Stocking Agassizii in 50 gallon

I would not do 2 males in a 36x18 [90x45], especially wilds/F1+. Only one male will breed & the other will just be beaten on/hiding. The only time I kept two Apisto males in a tank was my old Cacatuoides (domestic) colony in a 48x12x12in. My wild A. Bitaeniata couldn't stand each other in a 75...

Apistogramma Agassizi Tefe or sp. Tefe

The "sp." stands for species, it is used when a species has yet to be officially described. A. sp. Tefe is in the Agassizii-group, but is not the same species as A. Agassizii.

    S.A. Biotope for A. Bitaeniata [4ft, 75gal.]

I know, it isn't 100%, I was trying for a true boitope but I couldn't get a hold of any pencil fish other than Beckfordi and I've heard plenty of bad things about apisto fry and Beckfordi. So I figured I ight as well just say "S. American Bio" than Apisto biotope.

    S.A. Biotope for A. Bitaeniata [4ft, 75gal.]

Hey all, I got my hands on some A. Bitaeniata (Rio Tigre) (thanks Ted J.!). They'll be coming next week and I'm planning on have 1-2 weeks of quarantine and then into the tank they go! While I am waiting for the Apistos, I'm starting the tank cycling and adding the first fish/plants. There are...

    Keeping Conductivity Down

Anyone have a good way to keep Conductivity down? I keep leaf litter in all my tanks, but in my new tank i can't manage to keep it down. It is a 75 gallon and there are upwards of 300+ Indian Almond leaves, and somehow the cond. is settled at ~322 µS/cm. I use R.O. water and water from my Apisto...

Just How many Apistos Will Fit?

Thanks Mike. It's meant to be a biotope(ish) tank (I'll be planting in it with some plants not from SA), so the leaf litter is going to be pretty deep.
