Ohh, yes 4cm is a ways from 2.5 (1”)! I admit I didnt feed bbs until march…then they started growing quickly. The newer 1/2” batch is growing faster bc of the bbs and the prepared foods. I’ll just keep waiting then. Thank you for ur input.
I have some trifasciata juvies that are an 1” and slightly under. The rest are 1/2” so maybe too young still…
But What do you think these two (labeled B and C) are? Everyone looks female to me
Thanks!
Thanks Darrel. It’s aquarium salt. I don’t ever use it unless the fish aren’t feeling well - and normally kanaplex does the trick for me. But with these fry, thought I’d use something more gentle. I can remove and try adding more leaves to lower pH. The juvie is a little more active today but...
Ok thanks for the tips and appreciate the time spent on the response. I will do another water change tomorrow and add more leaves to lower the ph. I’d be sad to lose this one , it’s the biggest, but i know it happens :( Hopefully it’ll pull through. I’ll post an update if anything changes...
Hi Community,
Wondering if one of my apisto fry is sick? This little apisto trifasciata juvie has been sitting in her hair algae “house” all day. (I think it’s a she?) Her gills seem swollen - or sticking out’ish - and breathing a little fast? Haven’t seen her eat today. Does the inside of her...
@MacZ and anyone else - I made some more layouts. I wish had better wood pieces but oh well… Which 2 would work best for the pair?
Thank you in advance for your input!!
Agreed. Its not a way to live T_T Thanks for the tips. I think i’m starting to understand. So front to back blockers with rocks and plants interspersed between wood pieces. I might draw something up again and show it before rescaping. Thanks again for your help!
@MacZ If I want to divide the tank horizontally/lengthwise - how does this rough plan look? Am i understanding this concept correctly? But i can see that dividing from the short side like u have above would give the apistos more equal opportunity to come up to the glass. My little female loves...
Ah found it! Thank you and thank you @MacZ for this schematic! So essentially you are dividing the tank into two parts, using a large peace of wood as the main divider and wall between the two sections. For my pair, this would establish 2 “defined” territories, yes?
Thanks Mike. Appreciate the advice. I think I’ll hold off for now and fix the scape. I’ll use some manzanita branches I have to help sight block.
Any suggested threads that show examples of tanks that have good like of sight blockages?
@Mike Wise,
Is there a gallery or page on the site that shows good examples of tanks with proper sight blockers and setups?
And if I add dither fish, do I need to take out the apistos and rearrange the setup? Or is it okay to add them with the apistos in the tank?
Thanks again for your...
