Apistogramma sp. Putumayo?

Hi All,

New here and new to Apistogramma. This was a turn in at a LFS and there isn't anything else to go on. I have a female but no picture yet. I am not 100% it is the same though they do seem to be flirting. Colors are still developing I believe. Anyways, thought I'd sign up and post some pics - any help on ID would be appreciated too.

Sorry, but the photos, although nice, aren't good for ID purposes. I'd need photos of the fish broadside and with fins spread.

Thanks, he has quickly become the favorite. I wish I could have more but it is a 24" hex. at the base so there isn't a lot of room for "territories".

It might be A. sp. Putumayo or A. sp. Pebas. What does the female look like? That should tell the tale.

I'll get a picture of her but I'm not sure it is a pair of the same type because the guy at the store to which they were turned in didn't have any details on them at all.

Still can't say what it is. The photos of the female show no distinctly separate caudal spot nor a distinct caudal patch. It could be A. sp. Pebas or a mix of the 2 species. The 2 species often came in together labeled A. sp. Algodon.

Thanks a bunch for looking again. Do you think the female is close enough to be a mate or does it look like I might not have gotten a pair?
