Can Apistogrammas mix breed??

I was wondering if Apistos can mix breed because I have a male Nijessini and a female Trifasciata in a tank. If given the chance, can they breed with one another???

I believe that species of the same complex can interbreed. Trisfasitaca and nijessni aren't in the same complex and can't hybridize. Why would you want to hybridize the fish though?
