Its difficult from preserved specimen photos BUT heres my shot.
I think it is A.inconspicua or A.similis, theres no pics of A.staecki...
Both are identical apart from.
Count the hard dorsal spines, 15 and its A.inconspicua-16 and its A.similis...
Other than this the only difference are the number of scales in the longitudinal row, 22 scales A.inconspicua, 23 scales A.similis
PM sent...

Dear Mark,
Many thanks for your help.
Both A similis and A inconspicua are described from Bolivian amazon basin.
I will return to the photo instead to observe the characters.

About the use of photos.
I´m working on an ID of Bolivian fishes with some illustration and Cichlid are not my better fishfauna knowledge ( :-( ). I have more theses 3 photos of supposed A. trifasciata (why the yellow colours of the third ? sexual dimorphism).
Obviously you can use the photo keeping the copyright on my name. I´m researcher in public institutionvery happy to help in something about knowledge.
Sincerly
Michel

Like Mark says, none of the fish in the first post are A. staecki (they have no lateral spot). They belong to the regani-group, but not the commbrae-complex (they have no double caudal patch). The narrow lateral band + diagonal abdominal streaks + single caudal spot all indicate that these fish belong to the resticulosa-complex. If these are from the Río Itenes o Guaporé, then they most likely are A. cf. resticulosa (Mamoré), A16 in DATZ Book. It is also labeled in aquarium literature as "A. sp. Mamoré-Blue" and "A. sp. Malome". The dark markings certainly are very similar.

The last posts shows A. trifasciata. The color difference is not a diagnostic feature in apistos. Dr. Staeck collected several different color morphs of A. trifasciata in the Río Beni.

If I can help you with dwarf cichlid identification, please let me know.
