Hi. I'm currently looking for a female for my I. adoketa male and wonder how to make sure if a given fish is really a female. I found a fish but it is not really clear if it is a female (the owner is rehoming as they did not form a pair with another male). From what I got the only sure way is the vent shape. But since I have 2 males I cannot see any difference so I wander if someone could help me with that and provide me a couple of pictures of the female and male vents?
I saw at my fish that the male`s vent is like a barely visible almost round hole, rather closed and without any special thing around, On the other hand the owner says that he saw some small difference. The fish in question has a vent which is a little bit kind of open, more visible and not elongated. But from what I feel it is not clear enough and a couple of pictures would explain much better. Just want to make sure I'm not getting another 3rd male.
Thanks
