House plant id?

Hey all!!

Just another plant question..
About 18 sec. In on this video (link), there is a house plant in one of the tanks.
I believe it’s a philodendron of some sort?

Can anyone tell what it is and if it’s possible to keep them longtime half submerged like in that video?

It's a species/variant of Monstera. Yes, the way they kept them worked for at least 3 years. I was also thinking Philodendron for a moment, but the leaves would show much deeper cuts.

I miss Pantha Rhei. Was a great store.

What happens after 3 years? Do they rot or otherwise not do well ?

No idea, I can only say they had it in there for 3 years when I visited the store the last time. Now the store is defunct for a few years.

It is, it looks to be a Philodendron bipinnatifidum / selloanum type <"https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/200018/philodendron-xanadu/details">. They aren't officially Philodendron sp. any more, they are "Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum".

I think a Monstera sp. (also an Aroid) would have a much more obvious stem, rather than a very short caudex with the leaves forming a rosette.

No idea, I can only say they had it in there for 3 years when I visited the store the last time.

yeah, well, the plant expert hst spoken. Thanks.

There are Monstera sp. that have such rosette-shape, so I didn't even bother.

I just wasn’t sure if it was “just” a show piece for the event or if it was actually possible to do.

Looks like something i want to try out in a future tank.

Was thinking the same thing if i can find it.

I purchased two p's to see how they do hanging of the aquariums. The first was sold as
xanadu but it seems very different than the plant shown above. The leaves stem are very soft and not rigid; so not sure if it is a different plant or what:

The second was campii lynette which from my reading can be hung off the aquarium:

It looks like a light issue, not enough of it.

You may find it changes quite a lot as it grows.

I had just opened the box; anyway we shall see - i'll leave them potted for a couple of weeks when my schedule clear then soak them in water (roots) to remove all the dirt and than hang them by their er roots.
