Nerite Snails

I have 4 nerite snails in my tank along with a harem of A. Viejita (really macmasteri). There are also golden wonder killifish.

My question is, will the nerite snails eat any apisto eggs? The snails definitely go inside some areas they use as caves, although I dont think they go in the coconut huts but you never know. If the apistos lay eggs, will they keep the nerite out or should I remove them if I want fry?

I've never kept Nerite snails, but I believe they eat a fairly limited diet of green algae from hard surfaces, so I don't for see any problem.

The reason I've never kept Nerites is that they have a very short life span in soft water (due to sheel attrition), so I think they are incompatible with any Apistogramma spp. spawning successfully.

I didn't realize my soft water was bad for snails, but that makes sense, thanks for pointing it out.

I'm trying to imagine the snail crawling over eggs and just sucking any algae off them and leaving them in place without harm. I hope that's realistic.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
