Can anyone tell me if these sweet almond leaves are usable in a apisto setup? Ive heard of the use of oak leaves but nothing else. It says these leaves are used in betta breeding setups so im inclined to say they would work for apistos or other dwarfs also. Can someone correct me, im interested in ordering some and all that i found on aquabid is these dried catapa leaves (sweet almond) and wanted to know if they are usable. Thanks.

I am using almond leaves right now. I used to breed bettas and had some left over. I've never heard them called "sweet" almond leaves before, and i've never ordered from that particular seller, but they look just like mine. I can snap a photo if you want to see what i'm using.

Thanks rich, no need to snap a pic. I beleive you if they look the same. Ill look into bidding for them. Im already caught up in other bids and im not sure where to prioritize. Ive bid on a pair of triple red cac's and im looking into a large number of vals and root tabs, oh yeah decap brine eggs as well. Man im glad aquabid is back up.

Maybe they're called sweet because they are supposedly to be magical for betta breeders from asia who swear by them that their bettas are healthier and stonger because of the almond leaves. I use almond leaves and it's alright for apistos and bettas.

Could be....I do agree with the betta breeders. When I was breeding bettas, i used to get much larger spawns and bubble nests when using the leaves. The fry grew quicker and i had very few health issues. I find that the apistos like them, and will often spawn under a leaf as well.
