Picked up a reverse trio of these fish a few days ago. Not a whole lot of info on these fish from what I see, and some of it contradicts each other. Anyone have any experience keeping them or know of any links with good info?

Currently in a 55 with some gentle Malawi mbuna and trio of Vics. Temp around 76 degrees, hard water pH around 8.2. They're eating well.

Would also like to find some more down the road as they are quite interesting thus far.

Thanks,
Aron

Thanks for the reply, found some good info.

They actually spawned yesterday for me. I keep hearing about how they're not good at holding, so I stripped the female after a few hours and put about 30 eggs in a tumbler. Keeping my fingers crossed; these are Red-List endangered species.

Thanks guys! I actually got to watch them spawn. A little different than most mouthbrooders I've seen.

The other times I've witnessed mouthbrooders spawn (Lake Malawi) the female dropped the eggs, promptly picked them up, and nipped at the male's anal fin (egg spots) to fertilize the eggs. The Pindu female laid a few eggs on the substrate, and the male swam over top of them a couple times, fertilizing. Then the female picked them up and repeated.

As soon as I netted her she spit all the eggs. I put them in a tumbler and covered the tank. I'm not taking any chances with fungus, as the tank is near a window. I check on the eggs 1-2 times a day. I'll keep this post updated as changes occur.
