Trying to dive into breeding! Would very much appreciate yall’s help. 2 part question.

1. Sex of A, B, C?
2. Does A (anal fin) C (caudal fin) have fin rot? C is a bit worse a few days later. A and C spar occasionally.

Can't sex them by visuals, only by behaviour. These colourbreeds have lost most visual signs necessary and I would never ever try to sex them just from pictures. Sorry.

As for the damaged fins: That's what you get when you keep several individuals of uncertain sex together.

Is this a quarantine tank, or why is there no substrate in there? The reflections from below make the colours become extra washed out, which stresses the fish and makes sexing even harder.

Thanks for the reply Macz! I was hoping to get a response from you. Growout 20G long tank hoping to get a pair out of these. I’ve since added ada Colorado sand, earlier today actually.

These came from my LFS (YouTube famous in Seattle) with the seemingly sunken belly and fin damage (rot?). They were housed with ~15 total EBRs and some other community fish.

What behaviors should i look for in this trio? A and C spar occasionally while B mostly watches or ignores.

3. Is this sunken belly?
Yes, all of them are not in good shape.

Watch the behaviours of A and C towards B. Sparring can mean 2 males, 2 females or a female not yet ready to spawn. In any case I would remove A then.

Moved C (dominant) to a 10G to treat sunken belly and suspected fin rot. Now A and B are merrily following each other around. Amazed at how quickly behavior changed removing one fish.

A real shame as I wanted to spawn C with the best colors and taller dorsal flecks .

Couldn’t get a good picture with flared fins as they’re just swimming with each other for an hour. View attachment IMG_4249.jpeg

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
