Hello everyone!!
2 new members in my tanks..!! I bought them in Stockholm(Sweden)a few weeks ago.. Delivered from a Czech breeder as Ap. resticulosa.
3-4cm long.. small Apisto!! I`ve been keeping Apistos for more than 25 years but never seen this fish before... 50% of the other specimens?? in their tank was twice as big(males+females) but very poor in colours , although with yellow cheast, rows of spots on the cadual fin....
..and abdominal bands .. almost like these Ap. sp."Winkelfleck"

I have seen your thread
http://www.apistogramma.com/forum/index.php?threads/a-reticuosa-vs-a-urteagai.12410/

Here comes the usual question...Ap. resticulosa / Urteagai??

What`s your opinion??

Hi !
Have been searching the web and probably hit the correct Apisto reguarding the one I earlier found similar
to Ap. sp."Winkelfleck".
They must be Apistogramma linkei.

Can anyone help me to sort out whether my apistos are a linkeimorf or another species?? (Ap. resticulosa/urteagai)

It looks to me they are Ap.linkei...

This is neither A. resticulosa, A. urteagae, nor A. linkei. It appears to be a species that belongs to the Pebas-complex. I can't be certain, the photos are not good enough, but it probably is A. sp. Pebas.

Ok.. I thought the Pebas-complex looked like much more like my avatar picture (bought as sp. "Babyface" ,eunotus ??, but with different cadual-colours and less cheek/gillpattern than the other males I got delivered.. who came up with that Babyface-name anyway???!!!:) ) High body with rather high dorsalfin. Almost like my former Ap. sp. "Algodon II", cruzi??

The dorsalfin on my present male is not even close to the "hight" the sp."Algodon II" I had..

And only 3,5 cm..

I will keep you updated as soon as I catch my female with the camera..(she is in the cocoshell(?) with eggs) , and perhaps better pics on the male.

Many thanks!!

I will have yet one more look into your great article..

Hi ! New pics !

All these fishes came to my local pet shop with the name Apistogramma resticulosa..

1st pic - my "blue..ish shining" male in my home tank a few days ago. I shot all other pics today (saturday local time Sthlm,Sweden) in the pet shop.

1-my blue..ish male
2-pet shop male(yellow morf?)
3-blue..ish shinig?? female+ yellow female
4,5 - blue..ish shinig?? female+ yellow male
6,7 -both gender yellow

Maybe the females are just in different "moods"(dominant or not dominant), but I really think the males looks way to different ..

I will shoot pics on my blue..ish female with eggs/fry as soon as possible.... if possible!!

Exactly, that is my opinion too.

I searched the web with " urteagai Kipper " /pictures ( I was recommended an Apisto article by him). The 2nd pic looks like my male.. Almost.. aside from the red spots on the gillcover..

Maybe an assisting "fish-catcher" got the wrong species at the deliverance moment??
(If they keep 2 odd/different species together to be more space economic/effective???)

Hi Mike !

Back with some pics of my Pebas-related Apistos.
The first mating failed, but I moved them to a better tank.
Yesterday, the female came out with a new batch and gave me oppurtinity to shoot new pics..

They are still as small-sized as before (3,5 cm), even though I have been feeding them well..

What do you think about them now.. ?? I also added some old pics where the male displays some patterns.
