I have a pr of rams that I believe are starting to show signs of ick. One spot on males tail and golgen killi starting to show some whitish spotting too. What is the safest method of curing this in rams?
Like stated by Jose, get down to your LFS and get treatment for Ick. Follow instructions and ready up on the tetra issue. Do not remove the fish, but you have to treat the whole tank now.

I usually recommend treating rams with salt and heat. They can take temps up to 89 without problems as long as you provide extra oxygen in the water by lowering water levels to increase splash from the filter return, or by adding a bubble wand or airstone. Salt should be no more than 1 Tblsp per 5 gallons and should be added incrementally. (Dissolve 1/2 Tblsp per 5 g's water and after a few hours add the other half.) Treat for at LEAST 1 week after you've seen the last white spot.
I'd also recommend water changes every 2-3 days to prevent secondary infection. Make sure to maintain the correct salt levels in your new/clean change water.

Edit - just want to make sure you are seeing ich and not something else. Ich looks like someone sprinkled salt on your fish.
I'd go with Cathy here. I've used treatments and had mixed results, but raising the temperature to 30oC and adding salt has cured even the most persistent strains.
