Hi, I'm new to the group so let me first say hello. I have been keeping apistos for a couple years now. I stumbled across this fella at one of my lfs, they were labled apistogramma but i couldn't get anymore info then that. i believe it is somthing from the pertensis group but i'm not sure exactly what the photos are i believe a juvie male i couldn't get any photos of what i believe is the female. Any help?

I cannot say for certain, but the fish looks like a member of the iniridae-group, possibly A. uaupesi.
The iniridae-group differs from the pertensis-group by not having a caudal spot, 3 instead of 4 infraorbital pores (hard to see), and all the spines on the sail-like dorsal fin connected together by fin membranes. Pertensis-group species all have a caudal spot that is separated from the lateral band, 4 infraorbital pores, and the 1st 1 - 3 dorsal spines not fused to the rest of the sail-like dorsal fin (except the 2 members of the velifera-complex, which have all spines joined).
