Hi All,

Do any of these look like they could be male? I am only seeing female but they are still young so wanted some expert opinions.

Thanks!

I’m no expert but maybe the fish in picture 5, could be male. My only reference would be it has a thinner black line at the ventral fins.

Probably too small to give a confirmed sex - esp at 1 inch - the domestic versions have more colouring than wild in the females and young males don't really developed their unique characteristic until they get larger.

I do see 2 of them hanging out and doing the thing where they fan one another with their tails. I always associate this with courtship would 2 young females do this?

I have seen it as part of courtship and aggression. Usually before the aggression gets serious. As a way of showing "I'm too strong for you, don't even try it.".

But I'd have to watch your fish to say something clear.
