My panduro female got sick, very fast breathing

I have no idea what to do with her!

I found the symptoms today, she have very fast breathing, only sits in the bottom, somehow want to swim but didn't, the mouth keeps open all the time, no appetite

her color not becoming dark, still yellow

no other symptoms, no bloating, no wounds on the surface

I dont know what is going on, but I only want to cure her.

I have got the pair of panduro a month ago, for the male he is very health, no any symptoms, still eat and fight with mirror.

Do you guys have any idea about this???

Sorry. Hopefully someone else can diagnose. In the meantime, keep the tank dark and add a little more aeration (airstone).

She left yesterday wtih very fast breathing, extremely tired and some white wounds on her surface(appeared few hours before her death, but not saprolegniasis)
Only with the male panduro in the tank, with pH 6.8
I'd already separate her once I noticed the symptoms..

I dont know what was happened to her , but my male panduro is still very healthy now.

I have read a lot but no idea.... no any case similar to this one
Her gill not showing pink or red color... no any damage.. no other symptoms... the white wounds appeared suddenly for just one night ..poor her.

If they were white 'spots' then maybe Ich ? Keep a close eye on your other fish. My very first fish in the hobby were Tiger Barbs....by the time I noticed the white spots on their bodies they were already exhibiting symptoms such as sluggishness and not eating.

I jacked the heat up and kept the lights off to not stress them out, but eventually all six died....one by one.

I certainly don't hope it's Ich, otherwise your other fish is at risk... I would do a 50% water change, and repeat at least x3 a week for the next 2-3 weeks just out of safety. --> That's ONLY if you do not notice any weird behavior or abnormalities in physical features.

PS...(Just a waiver!) The new water should match ph & temperature as much as possible so you don't shock the fish too.

This is not white spots for sure since I have experienced white spots before, .
Its like some kind of cuts on its surface

Maybe some internal bacterial infection. Once it spreads through the bloodstream it can cause red, pink, or white blotches under the skin, often soon before death. So sorry. Wait at least a month to make sure nobody else develops symptoms before adding any new fish.

updates:
My male panduro starts breathing faster these two days.. so is it bacterial infection? still energetic, but didn't eat.
what treatment should I give to him..? I only got methylene blue and octozin now.. are these 2 drugs useful for this situation?

I have check many information..
and I found the most similar case to this one is fish Vibriosis, but I'm not so sure...
is it treated with antibiotics..?

I only had one pair of dwarf cichlid before.. and they live for 1 year...only treated with Ich..

so I am not very familiar to their diseases..

I hope someone can help to save my pandruro male

It might be a bacterial disease, protozoan parasites, trematode flukes - many different diseases can cause similar symptoms (rapid breathing, lost appetite, pale blotches on skin). So treating it is just a wild guess if you can't ID the cause. Some possible treatments that some of us have had luck with in treating Apistos are Metronidazole, Praziquantel, Naladixic Acid, and Kanamycin. I dont think Methylene blue will help. I'm not familiar with Octozin - what med is in it?

And I also wonder what kind of soil/gravel you are using + which plants you keep in the clay pot ?? Anubias??
Sometimes.. when one still keeping newly bought plants in their transportation package, they may start to rot and create a big bacterial problem...
If one then change a lot of water...my experience is that the male becomes much more interested in mating and then chase the female a lot more intensively. If she is not ready, it might result in damaged fins or scratches on the body. Bacteria then might infect these wounds ??

By the way..Do you have any fast growing plants (floating plants?? or plants with long stem/stalk ) ??

The opposite problem can also happen. Wild caught fishes can be more susceptible to disease bacteria and protozoa that have been living in your tank for years, and your existing fishes' immune systems are adapted to. But once the new fish (without immunity) get infected, the population of the disease "bugs" in the tank can get high enough to make your other fish sick. So it "looks like" the new fish was the source of the disease, because he got sick first, but it might just as easily have been a disaese already in your tank.
