I'm getting a pair of each and want to know can they be in the same tank together [40 long]? The main thing I'm worried about is cross breeding, I will be breeding them both and if I understand right the Hongsloi is from the Macmasteri group correct? I don't want to cross breed them.

Macmasteri and Hongsloi

It mostly depends on how dense/complex the decor is. Both macs and hongsloi are part of the macmasteri-group, but belong to different species-complexes within the group. It's unlikely that they will cross if both have members of the opposite sex available. If not - or if one male is highly dominant - then it's possible. Personally I wouldn't mix them, but that's me.
