I was wondering if someone could give me some info/name of plants that will grow ok in lower light levels as i'm going to have my tank lit by LED's. I know java fern & anubias will do ok but that's as much as I know sadly

In addition to various Java Ferns and Anubias nana, I use Bolbitis, Dwarf Sagittaria, Vallisneria, Najas (guppy-grass), Java Moss, Christmas Moss, Susswassertang, Crypt wendtii, Crypt affinis, and Limnobium as my usual standards for soft water/ low-light/ no-added-fert tanks. Also Hornwort (Coontail) for water with a bit more hardness. However I have not used LEDs - my list is for standard T8 or T12 fluorescent tubes.

I've never had any luck with Vallis in Apistogramma tanks, although it does well in our tap water (about 17dKH).

cheers Darrel

Don't go for vallis with LED lights. I had lots of vallis in my tank with regular t5 bars. Than i switched to LED lights but the lighting did not come true all the vallis at the surface. Where the normal lighting bars are completly spreading all the light every where it goes fine, but LED are all little lights, where the light starts really to split up as soon as it goes through the water. But with my vallis it could not reach the water, so there was almost no lighting penetrating the water. I still got some vallis now, placed in some back corner, and just cutting all the leaves as soon as they get to long.
