Lost my female Oblongum

Not sur if Australoheros Oblongum is concidered a true dwarf cichlid. They were my favorite fish.

She has looked rather slugish the last few days and not eating. Today she was resting on the bottom with labored breathing. And tonight she died.

Her mate looks bummed as they were very bonded. They produced many spawns and was a good mother, geeting it right from the first time.

She measured 4 1/2"

I am glad I was able to mail some of her fry around the country to keep this wonderful and underated species going.

Sorry to read about your loss. The species truly is beautiful and isn't that common in the hobby. I'm glad that you were able to move offspring around to other hobbyists. Hopefully you can get specimens back when you want them. The definition of what is or isn't a 'dwarf cichlid' depends on the person. Most 'dwarf cichlids' keepers feel that a species needs to be small (<4"/10cm) and reasonably peaceful (for a cichlid), but then what is a 'dwarf pike'???
