I have a 29 with 2 f0 (wc) females and 3 or 4 f1 females and am looking for 1 or 2 males. Not 100% sure yet how i would handle them - the two f0 females i had came to an agreement around a male but i think the f1s will cause a lot of fighting - so will probably put the male with the f0 female in the 29 and if i get two males put it in a 20 long with 2 f1 females (removing the 2nd one after a choice is made).
The f1s are around 1.5 inches maybe a little larger and .8 to 1.2 years old the f0 are a likely 2+ years old (they were pretty young when received in july 2024). The male i had could never swim but still managed to fertlize eggs (my guess is it was damaged in shipping or maybe the sender sent a defective one). The two f0 females came to an agreement with who got the male after some lock liping and bickering and then split to the two opposite sides of the aquarium (allowing them to co-exist but only one bred). Eventually the male passed.
I'm not in a super hurry but maybe this spring/summer - if I can breed a decent population i think i will use them to populate a 12ftx5ft aquarium i am planning for early 2028 (one should always plan ahead even if things some time don't quite work out).
Not sure if there are very many people with this species as i never see them importred.
