Sorry, I'm not aware of any wild Hemichromis cristatus coming into the country for some time now. Toyin Ojo is offering a Hemichromis species that he calls H. cf. crisatus, but I have seen a photo of this fish, and it is not H. cristatus or anything that resembles H. cristatus. If you'd like to ask him about it, his web site address is http://www.rehobothaquatics.com/index2.html.
I just got some from him and your right there not them, nice fish just not the ones i'm looking for, also there's a place in pa selling normal jewels as hemichromis lifalili,it called (that fish place ) if you ever come across any cristatus please let me know
Congrats on your new acquisition. The fish that you have from Toyin are either Hemichromis lifalili or an undescribed species that has been collected in Kinshasa District, DR Congo. I'm leaning toward the latter.
When they are grown up, would you kindly photograph them and send me some photos, please?
As for H. cristatus, a hobbyist I met at the Atlanta ACA convention had them for sale. Please email me privately for his name and email address.
