Greetings all,

I figured it was about time I joined this site, as I have been in an out of keeping Dwarfs (mostly apistos and pelvicachromis sp.) for the better part of 15 years. I took a few breaks here and there while i worked within the saltwater trade in Western Europe, Saudi Arabia and the middle east, Australia (east and west) and several locales in the south pacific.

so I've been in the hobby for quite sometime as you ca see and within the last 18 months or so I have been setting up a Fish / Day Gecko room. Currently housing and breeding 8 species of gecko and as far as apistos i currently have: A. borellii (a trio), A. Glaser (3 pairs), and A. panduro 'blue' (2 pairs). I'm a fair ways behind my previous endeavors within the genus, but I'm working on it.

I look forward to geeking it up with my fellow apisto fans, and making everyone jealous with the tapwater we have here in Vancouver. :D

Welcome back to the world of apistos. I didn't know anyone still sold A. barlowi under the name Glaser anymore. Breeding geckos brings back a funny (well not so funny) memory. A friend had a Tokay gecko get away and hide behind a bookcase. While looking in the crack between the wall and the back of the bookcase, he drove the Tokay out with a yard stick (a primitive measuring instrument similar in length to a meter stick, for the members in civilized countries). It came out FAST - and bit onto my friends nose! It wouldn't let go. It just dangled from his bleeding nose. We were all laughing so hard (except the owner). We suggested cutting off the geckos head, but the owner wouldn't do it. He just stood over an open sack for about 5 minutes with the Tokay attached to his nose until it tired and dropped into the sack. Never got into herps much after that.

i don't deal with Insane Tokays lol. I keep Phelsuma species which are a little less crazy. The market for them is rather lackluster in western Canada. Much stronger market for these guys in the east.

Yeah the barlowi came in under that name wild caught from Peru. So its more descriptive as far as what colour strain I have albeit an improper name. It helps to be a wholesaler for saltwater dry goods as i can get livestock managers to order me pretty much whatever I want :D. I am actually looking at winding down the herp collection and getting more tanks for the dwarfs.
