Hello everyone,

My name is Mark and I live in Northumberland in the north east of England, UK. I have been keeping fish since I was 8 years old and I'm now 56, with only maybe 10-12 years in total where I have been without them. Over that time I have had hundreds of tanks and have kept most things, from Mbuna Cichlid tanks to Discus Planted tanks and Reef Aquariums.

I have kept many tropical freshwater fish and bred a few of them, including several tetras, barbs, plecos and Angelfish. I have had 5 reef aquariums, the last being a 6x2x2 tank, which was broken down in 2009. I have had racks of smaller tanks when I was breeding fish. I've probably had 80+ tanks at once at one point. That was about 25 years ago now though.

My last two tanks were small (for me) planted tanks, one was a Betta tank and the other was a community with Rasboras, Ram Cichlids and Angelfish. Those tanks were broken down when I moved home 4 years ago though and I have been fishless since then. Here is a pic of them.

It has now reached the point where the new house is sorted and I need to scratch that fish keeping itch again, so I am currently setting up a new 6x2x2 tank and cabinet for my new planted tank.

It seems like I've been having deliveries of equipment, hardscape and substrate almost every day for the past month or two, getting everything together ready for when the tank is setup.

I think that's enough about me for now. If you want to know anything else feel free to ask.

Welcome Mark, nice to see someone else interested in Apistos from the North East of England. I'm in Co Durham, finding it difficult to locate a good local source of Dwarf Cichlids, other than the common ones. Look forward to seeing your tank when it's up and running.

Hi mate,

I’m in East Lothian but have holidayed in Northumberland (mainly Warkworth) a few times. Love it around there.

Your fish journey sounds interesting.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
