Female with eggs?

i have a slight feeling that my female cacutoides laid its eggs and got eaten by other tank residents. she is yellow with black stripe. she often stays very still with fins flared out. the male will react in the same way until he chases her. the female always goes to back corner of the tank where the dense planting is.

im not sure whats happening. her stomach seems flat, even after feeding(she's not really agressive eater though). also theres no "shaking" movement when the female and male are interacting.

the "pair" of cacutoides show no agression towards other fish. can anyone give me some clues or signs of ready to breed apistos? the male is stays dark brown in color but sometimes brightens up to yellow while im **** water changes every 2 days. i only know of the breeding "dress" of the female sign, but why is her stomach flat? : )

they will tuck up after dropping egg's in my experience, poss if she is eating well just fed her up with some live foods to get her back in condition
i hvae aggies who are constantly laying at present and go from nicely plump to flat bellied

also if she doesn't ever fatten up that could be a cause for concern with internal parasitism whether that be nematode/bacterial/protozoal or other

give her some treats watch her appetite and hope she fattens up

This sounds like she has spawned to me!

also theres no "shaking" movement when the female and male are interacting.

There wouldn't be if she has spawned. More likely flaring or something like that.

i only know of the breeding "dress" of the female sign, but why is her stomach flat? : )

Well, it is likely that she spawned!! Whether you will see fry or not is a different matter, but I would not give up on the possiblity that she will be bringing fry out from the densely planted area of your tank in a few days. They are tricky little devils sometimes.

What is happening in the tank now?

thanks for the replies!

as for now, i highly doubt there are fry or eggs in the tank(likely eaten) since the female is all out and about swimming all over the place.

i removed the potential egg eaters that i had in the tank before. khuli loaches, SAE, and few others. hopefully ill have better chance this time around.

How often should she spawn? her stomach is really flat, almost concave (possible disease). but i pay special attention feeding her since she is not as agressive eater and she chews very slowly.

its a 10gallon with school of emerald rasaboras and a rummy nose. how big are the eggs?
