I am only seeing female, does that seem right or just to young?
I got these from Dan's fish a couple weeks ago, asked for all female. I have a big male I want them to breed with. The pictures are bad. Let's put it this way: The overbreeding has resulted in females having male attributes in fin shape and colouration. How old are the fish? Alternatively what size and how long have you had them?
Just from first glance I'd say all females.
there is a color morph that is mostly yellow - i forget what they call it these days; so it is not clear (to me) from the picture of the sex of the fishes though at least 2 look more femalish than male.THis is the male I want to try and breed them with.
Is he often sitting on the floor like in the pictures?THis is the male I want to try and breed them with.
I was specifically asking about this sitting on the fins on the ground. Because if that's a frequent behaviour you don't want that fish for breeding. He goes all over the place but usually stays under the lower half of the tank mark.
Not it's pretty atypical behavior for this specific fish. What is the significance of the behavior?I was specifically asking about this sitting on the fins on the ground. Because if that's a frequent behaviour you don't want that fish for breeding.
Means buoyancy problems and possibly a genetic swim bladder defect if it happens frequently or at least regularly. It's fine if the fish is sleeping, but if it happens at daytime somethings not right. And as these domestic fish have all kinds of defects and problems you don't want to breed with specimens that show such things. What is the significance of the behavior?
