Babies!!!

:biggrin: :biggrin: he he... I was looking around my tank there now and noticed alot of babies around my female Apisto Inca.. (baenschi) (sp) They have only been in the tank for around a week and a half, so I must be doing something right...lol.... There are around 20-30 or so. I had noticed the female chasing the male and I thought it was just a bit of agression but turns out she it protecting the brood. She gulps them up and spits them out to let them feed then brings them all back into the cave.. I am feeding tetra delica brine shrimp and blood worm, they seem to feed off the slime, I will try adding some finely crushed flakes... Could be a need for a new tank.. he he... well its a good excuse for one.. I never thought I could have success breeding them let alone so soon... anyone have any advice on how to rear them?? I will try to get some pics..

I'd suggest maybe starting a bbs hatch, baby brine shrimp. I tend to keep the fry on live foods for as long as possible. I will feed bbs, microworms, and vinegar eels. Don't forget to do more frequent water changes too! john

I would go for the hatched bbs, if the fry are fairly big microworms may not fill them up, but you can try them if you have aculture going. If you don't want to hatch out bbs, try using decapsulated brine shrimp eggs....remove the shell and they can eat the whole thing. It isn't live, but still very good for them and doesn't take long to do.
