Apistogramma cacatuoides

I have been trying to find a really colorful Apistogramma cacatuoides male for my female. I see great pics on a web search of images but the young fish listed for sale are hard to judge. I guess I could ask what the parents are like but is there an other way to tell wheat I am buying. I have been told that I need a tank breed instead of a wild for better color is this so?

Watch the auctions on aquabid.com. They often have pictures of the fish for sale. I've seen some recently with exactly what you want, lots of bright red. I don't recall if I've seen any for single males, but why not buy a pair or trio? Give your new guy a real harem!

Why do a lot of the pics of the males show clamped fins? It is hard to tell what the whole fin looks like?
I have bought several fish on Aquabid
I never make it to shows so I never get a chance to view what is out there. I am guessing that there are some nicer ones at these shows.
