I have a male cockatoo who is quite aggressive, I just introduced a new female to the tank and he won't be nice to her. I thought that they paired easily. Should I leave them be or introduce another female. One pair in the tank with a cory cat and frog who the male accepts, amazingly.

It pretty much depends on your preferance, the size of the tank and the amount of cover in the tank. The best way to get pairs is to either buy a small group and let them choose for themselves or watch the fish in the store for fish that have already paired off. I myself do not have enough space to buy groups to get either a harem or pair, so I end up just buying a male and female and waiting. Not that having more than female is a bad thing but lack of space and or cover will usually result in a loss.

Morning,

whenever yo introduce any new fish to an already settled in fish, there will be territorial battles in the beginning. Picture it like you living on your own in a one bedroom unit and then you get another peson. With all of my tanks, whenever I introduce new fish i do the following, 1- remove all fish from tank for only 30 minutes, 2- slightly change the tank set up ie territorial markers like rocks, driftwood etc. Then introduce all of the fish old and new at the same time and they will all settle in better. The other option is to also
introduce another female. Thus giving the male a second female to follow. cheers and hope this help jk

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
