Apisto ID

Hi,

I'm a first time apisto keeper, and whilst out shopping for a pair of agassizi I came across the ones below - I think they were being sold as apistogramma sp. 'red' or something similar. They looked like agassizi to me, so I got them. Thus far no problems but can anyone give me a positive ID?

Hi Chris,

If memory serves right they're originally a German line bred colour morph of Apistogramma agassizii that you now find everywhere under the trade name of 'Fire Red'.

A lot of them have been turing up in the UK over the last few months, coming in through one of the Czech wholesale fish suppliers.

Wow, that female is unlike anything i have ever seen before.
Nice pickups and yes whatever they are they look like some form of aggassizii like A.D. wood said.
