From an Apisto breeders point of view.
How many months does it take for Apisto fry to grow out to a saleable size.
I do realise that there are many variables but what would the average timespan be?
Thanks,
Mark.

At least 3-4 months, of course it depends on the species; e.g.,
species like Aggie will grow very fast while double-band will grow
very slowly...

Frequent water changes help fry to grow faster as well. I've noticed a big difference in growth rates between batches that got weekly water changes and batches that only got bi-weekly changes.

Combine that with a rich food like BBS and you'll get the maximum growth rate.

And like blueblue, I noticed some species mature faster than others.

how about sp. "Breitbinden"/"Broadband"?
I have two of them for some 3 months now, got them as 1/2" fry. they seem to grow very slowly. they are about 1,1" now.
both have blue glimmer on their chicks and some caudal-centric pattern on their tails. I suspect they could be the same sex, although I don't know which would that be :)

I don't have any experience with that species myself.

Some species mature at a small size, so they are salable at a small size. If they can be sexed at 1/2 inch, then they are salable at 1/2 inch. I thought my borellii were bearly juvies when they spawned at 1/2 inch! BTW, my borellii made a great colony.

ApistoDave sells most of his Apistos at 3/4 inch.

Yup ! some spieces do grow much faster than some .

My Apisto. Steindachneri frys grow at twice the speed/size as compare to my apisto. Nijsseni & Apisto. Rotpunkt frys.

Greg: I think your Broadband fries' growing speed is fairly normal, neither too fast nor too slow. ^.^
