Greetings!

I stumbled onto the site searching for additional info on Apistos, and gotta say - I love the place so far. Hope to get to know you all better, as time goes one....

Now, why I'm posting -These were sold to me about a month ago as Apisto. Agassizi... I don't know if that's accurate and my male is just fairly juvenile, or if they were mis-identified. Love these guys so far, but I want to make sure I know what they are. Forgive the photos, I don't own a digital camera and am using a cell phone. :p The female has definately turned yellow, compared to her drab grey a month ago.

I agree with everyone else. If the fish have a lot of metallic blue markings on the head and face it is A. sp. Steel-blue. It definitely is not A. agassizii.

Well, whatever they are - they have babies! :)

Here's the best shot of the female I was able to grab over the weekend...

She has about 40-50 free-swimming fry at this point. She's VERY attentive to them. The Male and her are running a ringed-defense pattern. He patrols the outter edge of their territory, and she runs a small inner-circle very close to the fry.

Soon as they are big enough to appear on my camera phone, or if I can steal someone else's camera, I'll post photos of them.

Mate; Greetings to you and to your cute Steelblues :)

The male is 100 % a steelblue male in my opinion. I look at mines, and they are the same
Although I could not find a female for my handsome boy, I can say that the female on the last picture also shows Steelblue patterns for me.

So greetings, and wish you lots of healthy fries :)
