Excuse my english, I am from sweden:)
I have changed plans for my 54 liters aquarium(30x30x60). I decided for a time ago to have shrimps, but now, I know I cant leave the south american cichlids! I am looking for a smaller dwarf cichlid for the aquarium. The aquarium is small, but otherwise, it have everything a south american dwarf cichlid wants! Leafs, many roots, a dark bottom and not a strong light. Someone you can come up with? Right now is the M. ramirezi on first place.

I assume that your tank is 60 cm long - not 60 cm tall. Is this correct? This size is the same as a 15 US gallon tank. Most of the less polygamous species can easily be maintained in this size aquarium. My suggestion are: A. baenschi(Inca), A. borellii, A. cf. caetei Rotwangen, A. cf. eunotus (Orangeschwanz/Orange-tail), A. iniridae, A. nijsseni, A. panduro, A. pertensis. Even A. agassizii & A. bitaeniata will be suitable, but it depends on the the temperament of the individual fish. The nijsseni-group species (baenschi, nijsseni, & panduro) must be bonded or a fight will often occur.

yes, thats correct. A. bitaeniata wasa really nice, is it easy to get fry on the fish?
What means with "must be bonded"?

You can easily keep 2 females and 1 male A. borellii in a 60 cm tank. It is always interesting to watch the females steal fry from each other when both have a brood at the same time.
