Am I seeing Ick ?

Started treating my west african tank for Ick. Raised the temp to 81 (so far) treated tank with Metronidazole and did a little gravel vacuum. I think I am seeing white specs, possible moving on the drift wood. Am I "bugging" or is it possible to see the Ick on the wood ?

I 've never heard of Ick visible on driftwood. Any chance you have snails in the tank that have laid eggs?

Definitely NOT. Ich spots appear only on fish. The spots are cysts where hundreds of ichthyophthirius are growing and dividing, which they can only do on live fish. A single ich "bug" is way too small to see, and live ones keep swimming until they find a fish. You'll also see twitching and scratching behavior on fish infected with ich, typically before the spots are large enough to see.

Moving specks on wood might be baby snails, copepods, ostracods, flatworms, naidid worms, mites, etc --- not fish parasites.

Thanks, guess I may have never noticed them before. I was using jewlers glasses so everything was magnified pretty good.
I appreciate your responses. It is just that the white specs are randomly distributed, visible on all wood pieces, in even increments.
Kind of like the very beginning of snow fall.
