Aggies vs Cacs

I just started cycling my tank and haven't decided on a species of appistogrammas. I have a 30 gal and want to get either aggies or cacs and have some ?'s. I will get a trio of one of the species. IT is well planted with driftwood and i will get caves before i get the fish.

-I have read some articles that aggies females will almost kill males after breeding, most of those happen in a 10 gal. Will that happen in my 30 gal?

-Will that same thing happen with cacs or will they be more peaceful towards one another?

-Does anything change between the different kinds of cacs(like aggressivness) such as the double red, or the orange flash?

-What does the water quality need to be for breeding each species?

If any experts on either of these fish could help it will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm not too sure about aggies but I have cacs. They're fairly easy to breed and I also heard the one of the most easiest out of the apistos. I've had them for about 5 months and gotten them to breed twice in PH 7.4. The female doesn't seem to be agressive to the male in my case. After mating, my female either stays in her little cave with the eggs and ignores the male unless he tries to come in, in which case she fends him off. This is also in a 10G tank. My tank is also heavily planted with driftwood.

Well, I'm no expert, but my cac's (triple red), bred in a 10 gal, and although she pushed him around a little for the first couple of weeks, she was never very harsh on him.

On more than one occasion I have watched him collect a stray fry in his mouth, and spit it out back into the brood, only to be chased off. Poor fella.

I like to use coconut shell caves. I attach Java Moss and Java Ferns to them. Once the plants grow out it looks very natural. When you can still see glimpses of the coconut shell, it just looks like a piece of wood under there. When I've offered both these caves and rock caves, my apistos prefered the coconut shell caves. Also the Java Moss provides infusoria for the fry when the first emerge from the cave.
