Looking to see if anyone has had luck with Apistogramma Norberti. Looking online from older posting, seems not many have had luck. Mine are showing breeding behavior in my large tank, would love to get them in a breeder and give them a shot. Any hints or suggestions?

My female is guarding a batch of bright red eggs right now. Hopefully, the fry should become freeswimming sometime next week. Water conditions: pH5.5; 120 µS/cm @ 79ºF/26ºC. I'm hoping that the water hardness isn't too high. These are wildcaught fish that I brought back from Peru in Nov. 2008. The female is fairly aggressive toward the male right now. Before spawning, the male was the aggressive one. Good luck with your fish!

Thank you

I have a 20g tank, with a PH of 5, and 0-1gh,pure R/O water, temp is set at 80, I am going to put them in tomorrow, would it be best with this breed to use 2 females, or just try 1? Thanks Mike

I have 2 females. I don't put them in a 2ft (60cm) tank together. The dominant female mercilessly attacks the other. The male doesn't care what happens as long as there is a female for him. If, however, the female isn't ready to breed, then the male will try to drive her out of his territory. Hopefully she has somewhere to hide. My pair is in a 20Long 30"/75cm tank.

One more question Mike

I have also moved a pair of Nijjensi's in a 20L have you had luck with these, I am looking to do Guttata's next, same parameters?

Treat A. nijsseni like A. norberti. A. guttata are less demanding about water values. Males, however, can be aggressive toward females not ready to breed. I would keep A. guttata in trios if you have a tank large enough (minimum 30"/75cm).
