    Museum on the chopping block

Although this was directed initially to the entomological communiyt it is also very appropriate for all of us involved in the natural sciences as the cuts are not just directed towards entomology. Hello fellow ant scientists, I am not sure if you have all heard, but we are in the process of...

    Pelvicachromis taeniatus Njanje

The male is currently the sole care giver for the fry. I was finally able to get the female separated before he killed her. As mentioned earlier up to free swimming mom was the care taker, but once the young ventured from the cave it was all on the male. I am seeing far less effort on the part...

    Pelvicachromis taeniatus Njanje

Thanks for the comments. This has been a very interesting fish to work with, well when he is not trying to kill something he shouldn't. The effort you see is nothing compared to what was going on, this is just the best picture I could as he and the fry were hanging out at the rear of the tank...

    Pelvicachromis taeniatus Njanje

After several failed spawns, I finally have gotten a good clutch. The earlier batches were all eaten prior to free swimming but these ones made. Interestingly the female did all the care of the the clutch up until free swimming, now it is the males turn. If the female ventures far from the cave...

    Pelvicachromis taeniatus Njanje

Here is my male all grown up. I got these from Janos last season. He looked even better than this just minutes before I got the camera out.

    Breeding tank setup

Looks nice but I too worry about that style system. A friend of mine lost his entire stock when someone dumped an unknown toxic substance into the sump at his store.

    Apistos w/Discus?

Your food sounds good. My discus tanks are all around 84° I think this is just too high for most Apistos. At least based on my experience.

    Apistos w/Discus?

My experience keeping Apistogramma with discus has been universally 100% bad. I have lost them all with in a fairly short time around 1 year. Not only do they not take the higher temps well. If you are feeding live blackworms regularly as I do you end of with very fat bloated apistos. Not a good...

    F1 Betta macrostoma F/S

I have a good number of juvenile B. macrostoma for sale. They are about 2 inches long and starting to color up and become sexable. I am asking 150 a pair for these gems. They are a bit tattered due to the developing aggression between males but will grow out nicely in no time flat. Shipping by...

    Apistogramma cf. gibbiceps

The babies are still doing well, growing nicely. However interestingly enough momma no longer has anything to do with them. I of course knew the day would come when she pretty much abandoned them but it came sooner than I expected. they have been on their own for almost two weeks now.
