Very cool! I think this will be very helpful, especially for beginners. I can't wait for the breeding accounts section to be up and running. Ted, thank you for this awesome site and all the changes you are making to improve it!
Ok, I've noticed the other female trying to get close to the fry. The mother promptly chases her away. Are the fry in danger of being eaten? Should the mother and babies be removed? How well would they do in one of those fry nets that just hang in the tank? I don't have another tank right now so...
Jeff, thanks for the reply. The fish are currently in a 10 and the only occupants are borelli's ( 1m/ 2f). I do have a chunk of java moss also. It is right next to the opening of the cave she spawned in. I don't have bbs but I will try to get some. They are so fun to watch. At first I thought...
Well I guess my ph "issues" were not as bad as I thought. I came home from work today to find a swarm of fry surrounding one of my female borelli's. Now I have a whole new batch of questions. Do I need to up my water changes? Should I remove the female and fry to their own tank? Will crushed...
Thank you for the replies. I have already tried a few of the things suggested. I set out some tap water and allowed it to de-gas overnight. The ph did not change. When I found the ph levels of 8.4 I immediately removed the rocks that were in the tank and replaced them with flower pots. I will...
Ok, I have quite a few questions and I am new to keeping and attempting to breed apistos, so bare with me, and I apologize if I ask dumb questions.
I've been keeping fish for about 5 years now. Recently I decided it was time to take it to the next level so I obtained a few trio's of apistos...
I'm in no way offended. I myself often ask the same question on several different forums. Getting input from different sources is never a bad thing.
Hey tigger, welcome to the forum. I was the one that told you over in the cichlid forum that I thought you had all males. Looking again at the pictures I still believe that to be true. As I said before I'm no expert so hopefully someone with better knowledge will chime in and give you their opinion.
Talked my wife into it and looks like I'll be going too. This will be my first convention, what sort of things can I expect? See you there!:)
Wow that is cool that you give that option. You are a great people pleasing admin. If it were my board I would have told the crybabies to get some glasses.
I checked her out when I got home last night and the swelling is still there. It is definitely the vent and not her ovipositor. She doesn't looked stressed and is still eating well though. I don't see any worms sticking out. The male looks fine and shows no signs of anything wrong. If it is...
Thank you for the replies. I will do a search for camallanus. I only noticed the swelling last night so when I get home tonight I'll see if it is still there. One more question, can this be fatal? Thanks for the help.
