nonstop. My wife thinks I've finally snapped. I've been walking

I have a spawn of about 50+ P. sacrimointes. They're growing fast,
almost 1/2" now. However, in the last few days, I've noticed 2-3
dead every morning. What going on?! They seem to be eating normally.
I'm still doing 30% water changes every other day. The pH is stable.

I'm having a little trouble with these guys. The females seem to
be just fine. Eating well and everything. One male died a week
after I got him. He had lost swimming control and was laying
upside down in the tank for about half a day and then died. There
was a circular bruise type looking...
Besides using peat in a bag, how can I lower the pH in my tanks?
I found some sources of humic acid - will that work? Can I make my
own by boiling peat for a while and using that as an additive?
I want to lower the pH yet not have to deal with peat directly. Any ideas?
I've had a pair of A. papgai (Algodon I) for a few months now.
They spawn every 3-4 weeks but the batches are very small
compared toother apistos I have - typicall anywhere from 10-20
eggs. Is this normal for the species or am I doing something wrong?
I picked up a pair of these apistos a couple of weeks ago. They
were labelled blue head apisto. I'm tryingt o ID them. I think they're
A. caetai. Can anyone confirm this?

I got a pair each of gold cacs, triple red cacs, papgai, vijetii, nijsenni
and bitaeniata last week. My first venture in apistos....
Gold cacs spawned two days ago and the nijsenni were spawning
this morning when I looked at them before coming to work!
So they seem easy to breed...

Anyone with any experience with Dicrossus maculata? I picked
up a group of 6 juveniles a few weeks ago and have them in
a 10G with fine dark gravel, javamoss, oak leaves and driftwood.
Temp is 78F. KH out of the tap is 4, GH is 6 and pH is 7.2.
