    Stupidity + a moray = lost Apisto :-(

I made an impulse buy at the LFS and got a white cheek moray eel. My son loves eels and really wanted it. The guy at the LFS said it would be no problem and that the Apisto would be fine. Well, she's gone. I usually do research before buying new fish but this time relied on the LFS...

Can N. Ocellatus and N. Multifasciatus live together??

I'm setting up a 28 gal bow front tank. Can these two species be housed together or should I pick just one? I have sand coral substrate, rocks, shells and some caves. The tank will be ready for fish tomorrow. Thanks!

Driftwood in Apisto tank - could this be the problem??

I just read an article that said driftwood can cause water problems. I have a driftwood decoration in my tank that has a few large pieces attached to a slate bottom. This is in the same tank that my 4 Rams died in after doing well for about 2 weeks and my Apisto male died in after doing well...

    Frustrated and sad fishkeeper

I posted before about my Apisto C. male not doing well. He died this morning. It makes me sad that I could not save him since he was a real fighter and hung in there longer than I thought he would. Some will say "It's just a fish" but he had a great personality and was lots of fun to watch...

Apisto C. not eating and hiding a lot - help please

I apparently have no luck with cichlids. My male Apisto C. has been in my 35G hex tank for over a month. Usually he is active, eats right away, explores the tank, guards his cave and changes colors. The last few days he has been hiding more and now he isn't eating. I checked the...

More help needed with dying Rams

For those who have helped me so far on my previous thread thank you! But now I have a new problem. The 2 remaining Rams (1 golden 1 blue) are not eating and are hiding behind the filter tube and heater. Their color looks good but they are "breathing" heavily. They were eating fine up...

Sudden death, lost 2 Rams 2 more look bad, Help please!

I've had 2 golden ram and 2 blue ram in my 35 gallon hex tank for the last 8 days. One of the golden died all of a sudden and about an hour later a blue ram died. Now the remaining 2 look colorless and weak. I checked the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels before the fish went in - all...

Do A. Cacatuoides like being by themselves?

I got one small A. Cacatuoide for my 7 gallon bow front tank. There are some artifical plants and and 3 caves. The fish seems happy in the tank by herself. Should I leave her there alone of should I had some tankmates? I was going to put my 2 Platties from my big tank but now I'm going...

    A. Cacatuoides and Platies in the 7 gallon tank?

I have another thread going about A. Cacatuoides in a bow front 7 gallon tank and the general consensus is to have only 1 in a small tank like that. Can 2 red moon platies live together with 1 Apisto. C. in this 7 gallon tank? Or is it better just to let 1 Apisto have the whole tank? Thanks!

Apistogramma C. Orange in a 7 gallon tank - advice needed

Hello All, I'm new to this forum and to Cichlids (but not fish keeping) and I would like some input about Apistogramma Cactuoides Orange. My LFS has some very nice 1 - 1.5 inch Apistos that have captured my attention. Right now the only available tank I have is an All-Glass Mini Bow 7...
