well the smaller of the 2 died, it never looked good from the start.
but the larger agasizi is doing really well and growing quickly and colouring up nice, i assume it is a male.
now i will get another female or 2 from a different bloodline.
male is now about 4cm.

have 2 small (2-3cm) A agasizi in my 36x18x18 and was wondering what other type of apisto i could house with them.
i am not sure which other apistos will mix with them without problems.
any suggestions on species to try?
only other fish are 1 golden halfbeak (getting 2 more) and 2...
well i am way off the biotope now anyway guys:rolleyes:
decided i am just going to go with what looks good, although i need to find some suitable leaves to use as i would like some scattered over the substrate.

please don't think i am a novice , i have bred many soft water species of fish.
and i am cheap:wink: LOL
was more so looking for pictures of apistos in the wild and seein what the surroundings are like.
i found a great site yesterday in all my searching and it actually showed...
thats a pretty broad statement Mike.
who's to say they're right? info is changing all the time.
different things work in different tanks and there is alot of info on the net.
i just thought some on here might know of some helpful websites.

was just using cacatuoides and borelli as an example but thanks for that as i didn't know the different breeding strategies of the two.
and yes i will more than likely go with one pair of apistos and one pair of rams or even one pair of dicrossus filamentosus, not sure yet.

have just set up a 36x18x18 with a 10 gal sump today.
am using one 150 watt metal halide light and the tank will be heavily planted with a large driftwood branching structure.
will soon incorporate CO2 and am using Onyx sand and river sand as a substrate.
have already planted 2...
