Out of 170 cacatuoides fry i grew on i had 14 that didn't grow well. 12 had bent spines 1 was born with a poorly swimbladder and 1 an albino was born blind. All are still alive apart from the blind one. He died i'm sorry to say only two days ago, He lived for well over ten months and the others...
I had the same thing happen [/IMG]tomcptse,
mine hatched their second spawn (a much larger spawn than the first) and when those hatched i took the female out as she was attacking her first offspring. I had already took out the male before their second spawn had hatched.
In the picture i had...
hi Vic,
No their not wildcaught, i originally bought them in a shop under the title of East European rams but that was a long time ago as i have bred from them at least four times (these would be the fifth spawn in this blood-line, all from brother and sister)
On the 25th of May this year my blue rams hatched their spawn and i have grown on 40. Last friday the 10th of august a pair of the fry spawned. I watched the female lay her eggs and the male fertilize them. That made the pair 77 days, or 11 weeks, or 2 months and 3 weeks old. Is this very, very...
the blue ram is my all time favorite fish but i've never seen a wild caught ram in person or in a picture. i would love to think of them as much more striking and more vivid colouring than tank bred fish, but the colour and patterns the same. could someone please tell me if this is so
thanks mike,
they show no signs of abnormality's. in fact they are superb specimens. they seem quite small but the male is showing his sperm tube. i didnt log when they hatched but im sure it was before christmas
hi,
ive bred blue rams and grown them to almost breeding size and now a pair are showing breeding signs themselves. if i let them breed, being brother and sister, what will become of their fry
hi,
in my view i would get your fish first as long as your water isn't too high a ph.
the apisto's Ive bought haven't come from tanks that have too low a ph.
i think most breeders only breed their fish in low ph and then rear the fish in grow on tanks with a higher ph that way you wont be...
wow
i'm gonna print a picture, blow it up, and stick on my tank.
seriously though that is superb.
i would like to post a pic' of my tank but am not allowed, anyone know why.
welcome chappy
hi chappy,
good to see you getting into apisto's. if you have the success like you had with discus then you'll do well. i'll e-mail you some good sites where you can buy fish. anyway must go see you @ work...
hello, i've just got an ro-unit. how do you turn it off when you have enough water. i've been told you must always have water covering the membrane.
i think i've posted this in the wrong place.
