I have used RO, It had immediate effect, my Apistogramma Macmasteri female has taken up shelter under my coconut shell and has become extreamly aggressive, Lost a bit weight and become very strongly coloured. I can only assume she has laid eggs... Great :)
It is the case that they use sodium ions to soften the water. I guess I will have to use RO or rain water.
What affect does the high conductivity have on the apisto's, is it a health issue or they just won't breed?

I myself have Hard, high PH water, about 8-8.5. I have tested water I have filtered through my Brita filter, It has a PH of 6.5 and according to the advertising it is supposed to make the water softer. I haven't the equipment to test the water, Would this be a safe alternative to an RO unit. I...

Have had a scan on the net for that name and it is definitly Apistogramma macmasteri.

I have an image of my Apisto, sold to me a Agassizii. I am not convinced that is what it is. I have tried to insert the image but not sure if it has worked
