    breeding crenicichla compressiceps

I never spawned any dwarfs pike, but i've done it with bigger ones. I guess it could be work for dwarfs too. First thing with pike: you gotta have a pair. I guess you noticed that they are quite agressive between each other, specially if they are adults. To avoid attacks and agression, I...

Proper name for "Apistogramma blue head"

I bought like 6 of them in a pet shop, thinking how cool it was to get a new species for a so cheap price ( I pay 5$ canadian for each ). After learning what kind of fishes they were, I gave them to a good friend of mine who enjoy good looking fish. I can't say for sure that he had a female...

    Apistogramma Nijsseni

My experience from Nijssen told me to never put any other fish with them if they are breeding, because they're going to make a nice carnage in the tank. Breeding pair are beautiful, but very agressive. I called mine Bonny and Clide :P Phil

    A.mouthbrooder spawn :D

Hey, :) I would be very happy to help you breed this magnificient species. First off, let's me explain the context, because I feel that it has something to do with it. The tank they are in ( a 55 gallons heavily planted tanks ) was plagued blue green algae, so I was making huge water...

    camallanus worms

When using powdered medications like levamisole or piperazine , it gives way better results when mixed in food and directly given to the fish ( if they still eat... ) I think you can get piperzine in drug stores too, it's a human anti-worm. This is where I took mine, even if the pharmacist...

    more is not better

So it would be better in terms of breeding and agressivty to keep a single male with 2-3 female in a small tank, say a 20 gallons, then keeping 2 males and 4-5 females in a larger tank, like.. a 55 gallons for exemple ? Philippe

    Apisto SP. steel blue

Yes, it's ornemental, but do we really need another kind of hybrid in the hobby, with all the "assorted" african ciclids ? IMO, hybrid like that should not be tolerated. There is a difference in selecting physical traits from a fish to enhance it over generations like with discus , guppies or...

    Apisto SP. steel blue

Unfortunatly, it seems it is hybrid... What I thought were females are finally males :( I should have checked what kind of fish it was before buying it, but given the cheap price and the " I nvr saw this one" before feeling, I picked them up :( The LFS is Aquarius, I guess the moderators...

    Lowering ph without using CO2

Another good way to produce soft and acidic water is to use Ro water. They sell it in grocery stores or places where they sell stuff to make your own home-made wine... Just mix tap water with RO water to get the values you want :) Hope this helps Phil

    Apisto SP. steel blue

It seems I have some females with them, but how to be sure it is really a female from this particular species, since I nvr saw any pics of it anywhere... Anyway, looking at the dorsal shape and body coloration, it looks like a female. Working on that... Will give you further information on...

****.. I can tell you those guys are going straight back to the LFS if they are truly steel blue ! 15$ wasted :( I have some females with them, but I'm not sure they are of the same family. But since that LFS once sold apisto papagey as apisto agassizi , for 15$ a pair, I'M going to wait a...

    Apisto SP. steel blue

I,ve just acquired a trio of those fishes from a LFS in montreal. They asked a very cheap price for it, so I bought them.. But now, after reading about them ( you know what it is when you see a nice fish, you MUST have it.. ), I'm not so sure it was a good idea. Is it true that it is...
