    A. Elisabethae “red”

My take is that it’s somewhat near to nature. All the WC Uaupes fish I’ve ever had were “red faced”, never the red face+belly. And that’s how they bred. I’d wager the red belly is population specific…Icana?

    Taeniacara candidi with bent spines

Are these different from most of the other SA dwarfs? 26 gets both sexes, less than 26 more females, more than 26 more males, seems to be a pretty solid plan for Apistogramma and Dicrossus in my experience.

Cacatuoides breeds with cacatuoides, the line bred traits for color are more or less irrelevant

    Acclimation

Wetspot has water that comes from the tap at about 15us/cm. They just buffer the water up as most folks they’re shipping to don’t have water anywhere near that soft. The variance probably comes from the difference between the warehouse and the store. Id expect the warehouse water (central flow...

    Female and Flaring

Yes. Females can be very territorial with other females (or their reflection). With that said, the flaring from the females is usually more face on/open mouth/gill flaring in my experience

    Tank size

Kinda depends on the temperament of the parents… I’ve had fish that were totally fine with 3-4 generations of fry with them, and others that would clear the table before every spawn. Trying to catch fry sucks. I’ve always preferred to move the pair to a new tank, and wait till the kids were...

    Clamped Fins and Tail

I don’t have the slightest idea what the exact problem is, but with ammonia and nitrite reading anything higher than 0 I’d be inclined to change a bunch of water right now, change a bunch of water tomorrow, and probably do the same on Monday before throwing random meds/fixes at the tank.

    Domestic or imported

Both…there are both really nice fish, and really poor fish that fall in both camps (import and domestic). What fish are you looking for specifically?

NEED HELP w Ivanacara Adoketa sexing

1&2 both look girly to me. 3 looks male. 4…I’m not sure if it’s a beat down male trying to look female, or actually female. With the Icana fish, the males will develop quite a bit of that rusty red in the face, while the females will carry the rusty red color on the flanks ( but not face)

    Apistogramma recommendations

A sp D6/mitu, A sp D37/keimenfleck, A sp D39. All fantastic Apistogramma that wonderful looking, fairly rare in the hobby, and quite a bit more wide ranging in terms of water chemistry than one might be led to believe.
